Nice to Eze

Yep, I'm still scanning old film negatives and here's another, from our 2002 spontaneous trip to France. The view in the photo below, looking west from Eze, is obstructed by low clouds but I'm glad I've got it as otherwise I'd have forgotten all about the place.

Eze is a small town perched atop a hill, just east of Nice. It's a good day trip, a break from the museums, the narrow streets, and the busy beach scene of the city. We took the bus from Nice to Eze, hung out for awhile, then walked back to Nice, along the road. No trail, at least we didn't see one, but it wasn't a bad walk.

Eze is covered with lush gardens and has great views of the Mediterranean. It brought to mind California, the greenery, the weather, the views, though the signage, architecture and food all said France.

Literary connection: Eze is, I think, the town where David and Hella live leading up to their split, in the last few pages of Baldwin's wonderful Giovanni's Room.
