We're in the charming town of Bath. We will be here a week.
We flew into Heathrow, took a train into London, then we took a train, a Great Western I think, to Bath. One of the more comfortable trains. As soon as we arrived in Bath we dropped our luggage at the apartment then went for a walk. We headed for the center of town, past the abbey and the baths, both of which we'll visit soon enough. We were aiming for the River Avon, which is where I took this picture.
By the way, there are eight rivers in England named Avon. It reminded me of Boston and its repeated usage of street names; I remember standing at the corner of Tremont and Tremont and thinking, hmm, which way should I go? (This was pre-Google.) I figured it was because Boston is the sum of several towns, each with their own naming system.
