Our apartment in Como is spacious, comfortable, and quiet, though it suffers from a bit of form over function.
The apartment was originally a carriage house. The glass door in the middle opens onto a hallway with a laundry room and bathroom with shower and tub. Up the winding cement stairs is the living room, kitchen, bath, and bedroom.

It was a bit cold when we were visiting. Unfortunately the thermostat is adjusted remotely and we had no access to the controls. So we put the thermostat on top of an ice cube tray and placed it under a glass cover to trick it into thinking it was colder than it really was. The temperature inside the dome quickly dropped and, viola, we had heat.

We got a faster response with this design update. The metal bowls contain frozen water and the bowls fit completely under the cover. In the photo the thermostat shows a higher temp than version 1 because I took the photo at a different point in the testing.
