The museum at the
Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles disappoints if you're looking for works by its namesake. Go to Amsterdam. There are few van Goghs in the city where the artist painted so many of his famous works. And there is but one on display at the museum that shares his name.
So instead of seeing work by the late van Gogh you visit the eponymous museum to see a modern artist inspired by the venerated Vincent. Lucky for us the current exhibit is American artist Nicole Eisenman whom I first encountered at the 2019 Biennale. She is accessible, colourful, political, and often funny.
