We said goodbye to Sarlat and our comfortable apartment (photos below). We then headed back to Bordeaux, a drive of about three and a half hours and maybe fifty roundabouts. We dropped the Fiat at the Europcar lot next to Gare Saint Jean. The full insurance coverage meant there were no issues with the dented-up car.
The walk to the train station was short, just a tunnel under the train tracks. The departures board indicated the next train south was in fifteen minutes. This was a relief since French train workers were on targeted strikes which meant some French trains on some routes were canceled.
