A friend was out from the city so we headed to this beach as well as the lighthouse. The beach, called Petrel, is poorly marked and a bit of a scramble so you're unlikely to meet anyone here even on a hot Canada Day, which this was. Visually, this is a typical Vancouver Island beach. It's light on sand and heavy on rocks, with the occasional washed up log and lots of sea creatures. The sea creatures are typically clinging to the rock. Sad to say, most of these creatures I hear were prematurely cooked to death in the recent climate change sneak preview.
