Göreme

From Istanbul we traveled to Goreme, to see rocks, caves and balloons. It's a small town in an area called Cappadocia, in the center of Turkey. We flew to Kayseri, the nearest town with an airport, then took a taxi to Goreme where we had reserved rooms at the interesting and comfortable Kelebek Cave Hotel.

At first glance you might think that this is a bit tumbledown but actually it's a fine old stone hotel perched top of a hill. The rooms and spaces are interesting and varied. Good food, too.
