Hurricane Ridge

August 20, 2016   Hurricane Ridge, Hike, Port Angeles

It's a heat wave in Port Angeles today so we went up into the mountains to hike the Sunrise trail in Olympic National Park. The sky was a bit hazy from forest-fire smoke but it was still a beautiful hike.

A cold trip on the Coho

December 29, 2016   Port Angeles, Coho Ferry

Yesterday I took the ferry across the strait to get the mail. The ferry was full with families and children but they all stayed indoors. The decks were almost empty.

Approaching Port Angeles

There is a ship in the distance in this picture, you can just see its outline on the left. It's the 237-meter Hanjin Vienna, parked since fall, victim of its owner's bankruptcy and now in the grip of creditors. This image is an exercise in symmetry: it's square shaped and split top-to-bottom in the middle.
