From the car, which was parked on the lower deck, I saw the Salish Raven pass by out the window. It was built in 2017 by Remontowa Shipbuilding in Gdansk, Poland, a controversial choice for those who argued it could have been sourced in Canada. It carries 138 cars and 600 people. The Salish Class ferries were the first in the fleet to run on liquefied natural gas which I am sure sounded very clean when the order for the ship was placed though now it sounds to be just another greenhouse-gas-producing fossil fuel.
