Let's take a short break from the hike.

Thanks to our neighborhood association, Totangi Properties, and Jordan River Gravel, the nearby community of Jordan River now has two welcome signs on Highway 14. One is on the north end of town, the other is on the south end. (These are the only two ways in to Jordan River, aside from boat, seaplane, or on foot.)

Attached to the top of the sign is a blue wave which references the community's surfer-friendly beach. Under the "Welcome to Jordan River" text the name diitiida refers to a large Pacheedaht village that once was located at the mouth of the Jordan River.
