Our abode on Santorini was a cave house in the small village of Finikia, which is a comfortable place to stay but involves a bit of a workout to get to and from the road. There are only a few car-passable streets (and I use the word "street" loosely) in Finikia. They are narrow, windy, unmarked and rocky and most are pedestrian only. For example, our taxi from the port, when we were laden with luggage, parked blocks away and employed a porter to help carry our luggage. Roller-wheeled luggage doesn't work well here. That said, it's a beautiful house and it served all our needs.
Something of a mystery to us. There are two of these embedded in the floor, each about 3-feet across and lit up inside. An homage to anthropologists perhaps?
