We are in Italy. After a day of travel we arrived at Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport. A nice enough airport though naming it after da Vinci does sort of raise expectations. From the airport we boarded the express train for the short ride to Roma—henceforth Rome will be Roma as I imitate a native.
We rented a room for a night, in a hotel near the train station, so on arrival at Roma Termini we walked to our hotel, dropped our bags, then headed for dinner. Pizza, of course. We chose the nearby Pizzeria del Secolo. One of the country's charms is that there is pizza nearby everything. Del Secolo has a wide choice of delicious pies, which are rectangular, not round, and slices are cut with giant scissors and priced by weight. The proprietress was charming, multi lingual, and she makes really tasty pizzas. Best of all she knows to make a thin and crispy crust. Mmmmm!
